“Credit unions have been a part of my family my entire life.  My
dad retired from a credit union and both my brother and I work in
the credit union industry.  Our clients are smart and friendly
people committed to helping their communities.  It is working with
and for them that makes it easy to love what I do.”

Patty Corkery has been with the firm since January, 2000.  She became a partner in 2005.  Patty
specializes in complex litigation and assists clients in several areas including: contract and vendor
disputes, bond claim disputes, contract negotiation, collection, recovery, and employment.

Patty works with clients nationwide to oversee and monitor bond claim investigations and specializes in
faithful performance and employee dishonesty claims.  Her goal is to assist clients in securing coverage
on large dollar claims.

In October 2011, Patty successfully tried in federal court a faithful performance bond claim dispute on
behalf of a large Miami, Florida-based credit union resulting in a jury verdict in favor of her client.

Also in 2011, she successfully negotiated payment for clients on two outstanding bond claims avoiding
litigation.

In 2008, she co-chaired a trial where the firm successfully sued a major bond carrier for failing to pay a
lending-related claim and secured millions of dollars for the firm’s client. Patty assisted in representing
the credit union when the large verdict was appealed. The bond carrier lost its appeal.

Patty specializes in litigation, in addition to bond claim disputes. She regularly represents clients in federal
and state court on issues such as contract disputes, loan recovery matters and libel and slander actions.

In 2010, Patty represented a credit union in an arbitration in North Carolina against a major national bank.
The multi-million dollar dispute resulted in a favorable settlement for her client.

She also has expertise in indirect lending auto programs. Patty has represented clients in lawsuits against
car dealerships for dealer fraud. Not only has she secured favorable settlements from area dealerships,
but in 2008 she successfully defeated a Macomb County, Michigan, car dealership and obtained a jury
verdict in her client’s favor and secured over $800,000 for her client. She represented the credit union
through the dealership's unsuccessful appeals up to the Michigan Supreme Court.

In light of her experience, she offers valuable assistance to credit unions in establishing indirect lending
policies and procedures and dealer relations.

Patty also assists clients in negotiating contracts with vendors of all service types including: data
processing, financial investments, indirect lending and mortgage servicing. She frequently assists credit
unions with credit union service organization ownership issues and disputes.

She has years of experience litigating and mediating cases in all forums, including circuit and district
courts across the state, U.S. District Courts, arbitration and facilitation.  Passionately representing her
clients in a courtroom or facilitation setting is what she enjoys most about the practice of law.

Another major focus for Patty is educating credit unions. She spoke at the Credit Union National Director
Conference in 2010 and is planning another session for the 2012 conference.  Patty has presented on
various topics through the Michigan Credit Union League to credit union volunteers and employees.

Patty also assists in the oversight of the firm’s collection and recovery attorneys and paralegals.
